A police constable died on Monday from severe injuries sustained during violent clashes with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) protesters in Islamabad. The clashes also left over 70 officers injured.
According to a report by Pak Observer on Tuesday, Constable Mubashir, 46, succumbed to head injuries after an alleged attack by PTI protesters near Hakla. He was taken to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital in Hassan Abdal, where he was pronounced dead.
The report states that Mubashir, a member of the Rawalpindi police, was from Muzaffargarh and is survived by his wife, two daughters, and a son. More than 70 other officers sustained injuries, including wounds to their heads, arms, and legs.
An investigation into the deadly incident has begun. Authorities are reviewing CCTV footage to identify those involved. “The perpetrators will be brought to justice,” a police spokesperson said, emphasizing the commitment to maintaining public safety.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif condemned the killing of Constable Mubashir, referring to him as a martyr, and extended his condolences to the officer’s family, offering prayers for the deceased. The prime minister also directed authorities to arrest the perpetrators, stating, “The attackers must be identified.”
