Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has lodged an official complaint with the local authorities in London after facing harassment and threats with a knife during a train ride on Monday.
The London Transport Police have stated that they are looking into the incident, as mentioned by state-run media on Thursday.
The event took place on the Elizabeth Line at approximately 3:30 pm, where a group of three to four individuals approached Asif and harassed him while he was en route to Reading.
As reported by the defence minister, the individuals recorded him without his consent, used offensive language, and made knife-related threats. He also mentioned that he did not recognize any of the people involved.
Asif, who was in London for personal reasons, reported the threatening encounter to the police and requested that the London Transport Police review CCTV footage from the train to help identify the suspects.
He emphasized that such harassment is not only personally distressing but also an embarrassment for the 1.7 million British-Pakistani citizens residing in the UK.
The minister expressed his sorrow over the incident, calling it disgraceful and unfortunate, as it highlights a worrying trend of harassment experienced by Pakistani officials and political figures in the UK.
The latest instance of such harassment involved former Chief Justice of Pakistan Qazi Faez Isa, whose vehicle was targeted by PTI supporters in London last month.
