New Zealand created history on Sunday and became the first team to whitewash India in a home Test series. The visitors won the third and final Test by a narrow margin of 25 runs on Day 3 in Mumbai.
Set a target of 147 runs to win, India faltered and were bowled out for 121 runs. Ajaz Patel followed his first innings fifer with another six wickets to end with eleven wickets in the match. Off-spinner Glenn Phillips complimented Patel with three wickets. In 2021, he had picked 1o wickets in an innings at the same venue.
Rishabh Pant fought a lone battle with 64 runs off 57 balls on a wicket that turned square. He had scored 60 in the first innings as well. None of the other batters even crossed 15 runs as the top order had collapsed to 29/5.

For India, Shubman Gill (90) and Rishabh Pant (60) were instrumental in gaining a crucial lead on a deteriorating pitch. Washington fought a lone battle among the three all-rounders, scoring a brisk 38 not out off 36 balls, with four boundaries and two sixes.
In the first innings, New Zealand were helped to 235 with half-centuries from Will Young and Daryl Mitchell. Jadeja picked a five-wicket haul, while Sundar had four wickets to his name.
