Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, without explicitly naming Israel, has issued a stern warning that any attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities would be a highly dangerous provocation.
According to Arab media reports, Lavrov emphasized that Russia is closely monitoring assessments from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
He noted that there is no evidence suggesting Iran is attempting to shift its peaceful nuclear program towards military use.
Lavrov further stressed that Russia relies on facts rather than succumbing to propaganda or accusations. He pointed out that the IAEA regularly presents reports to its Board of Governors, none of which indicate any deviation in Iran’s nuclear activities towards military objectives.
The Russian Foreign Minister warned that any military strike on Iran’s peaceful nuclear installations would be a grave and provocative action, carrying serious consequences.
Iran launched approximately 180 missiles at Israel, which it claimed was in retaliation for the assassinations of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh, Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah, and an Iranian Revolutionary Guards commander.
The Israeli army later acknowledged that the strikes caused damage to several air bases.
Netanyahu had discussions with U.S. President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris regarding Israel’s potential course of action against Iran.
