An assistant sub-inspector (ASI) from Kot Momin police station in Sargodha, along with his accomplice, was arrested on Monday for allegedly raping a matriculation student.
The arrested officer is now facing departmental action after allegedly committing the crime with the help of his private guard. The victim, a student, told Geo News that her father had been arrested by the ASI in a drug-related case.
The district police officer (DPO) has formed a two-member investigation committee to investigate the matter and ordered the completion of the report within 24 hours, according to police sources.
The arrest follows a case filed at the Kot Momin police station against the ASI for allegedly raping the student.
The victim also said  that the ASI’s private guard had contacted her, promising to help secure her father’s release. “The ASI and his private guard took me to an empty house in Muazzamabad town,” she said
Her father recounted that his daughter was later found outside their house in a semi-conscious state inside a car.
Crimes involving rape and sexual assault remain prevalent in Pakistan. Just last month, a minor girl was reportedly raped and murdered before being discarded in a garbage dump in Karachi.
