An intriguing moment occurred during Friday’s Senate session when PTI Senator Dost Muhammad Khan inadvertently referred to Imran Khan as an “expert in terrorism” twice.
In his remarks, Senator Khan said, “If you want to end terrorism, release Imran Khan because he is an ‘expert in terrorism.’ During his tenure, only one drone strike occurred, and he even lodged an FIR against the CIA chief. He will also fix the economy and have significant influence in Afghanistan.”
PML-N Senator Irfan Siddiqui, who was presiding over the session, promptly intervened, suggesting that the senator likely meant to say Imran Khan was an expert in combating terrorism. However, Dost Muhammad Khan, caught up in the moment, retorted, “You are from the opposing party, that’s why you’re saying this, sir.”
Amid this drama, Opposition Leader Senator Shibli Faraz and Senator Mohsin Aziz attempted to clarify the situation to Dost, but their efforts were in vain. Shibli even tried to explain in Pashto, but Dost remained adamant, insisting, “Yes, he is an expert in ending terrorism, and I repeat, Imran Khan is a terrorism expert.”
With a smile, the chair acknowledged Dost’s insistence and decided to move on to the next member.
