Ahsan Shah, the prime suspect in the Balaj Tipu murder case, was killed in what authorities are calling an alleged police encounter.
According to police sources, the incident took place when a CIA team was transporting Shah to Shadbagh for evidence recovery.
The police reported that the team was ambushed by Shah’s accomplices, who opened fire. In the ensuing crossfire, Shah was fatally wounded, allegedly by gunfire from his own associates, while the CIA team narrowly avoided injury. Shah was immediately taken to a nearby hospital but did not survive his injuries.
In response to the incident, Lahore Organized Crime Unit DIG Imran Kishwar has formed a team, led by DSP Muhammad Ali, to apprehend the remaining suspects. A search operation is currently underway in the area, with the DSP stating that the attackers will be arrested soon.
Balaj Tipu murder case
The Balaj Tipu murder case dates back to February 18, when Amir Balaj Tipu, son of the infamous Arif Ameer, also known as Tipu Truckanwala, was killed during a wedding ceremony for the son of former DSP Akbar Iqbal Bala near Thokar Niaz Baig.
Balaj Tipu had recently joined PML-N.
The shooting claimed two lives, including Balaj Tipu, and left three others injured. The second victim, yet to be identified, is believed to have been the shooter targeting Balaj, who was then shot by Balaj’s bodyguard. The injured were taken to Jinnah Hospital in critical condition, where Balaj Tipu later died.
