The mystery surrounding the murder of Farrukh Arshad, who was kidnapped from Faisal Town, Lahore, and later found dead in the jurisdiction of Ichhra police, has been solved with the arrest of three police officers connected to his death.
Farrukh Arshad, 33, was abducted and killed by Police officers, identified as Ejaz, a Township police station officer; Hamza, an expelled Dolphin Squad policeman; and Muazam Hussain, a Garden Town police officer. On August 18, the accused kidnapped Farrukh and took him to Flat No. 32, Sharif Plaza, in Ichhra. Initially, reports suggested that a young man had died after allegedly falling from the rooftop of a private apartment building in Ichhra.
Two days ago, Farrukh’s family noticed his cell phone had been off for several hours and filed a kidnapping report against unknown individuals.
According to a police official, Farrukh’s car was found in Model Town on Tuesday, and his body was discovered near Sharif Plaza. The official explained that Farrukh had died after falling from the rooftop, and the building’s residents had informed the police.
Further investigation revealed the involvement of some police personnel, leading to the conclusion that they had trapped Farrukh. The suspects were tracked down using mobile phone data, and three were taken into custody. Another suspect, a constable with the Dolphin Force, is currently at large.
The official added that the investigation is ongoing.
