Bollywood actor John Abraham has taken a bold stance on India’s societal issues, asserting that the country is currently unsafe for women, children, and animals.
In a recent appearance on Ranveer Allahabadia’s podcast, Abraham argued that true patriotism involves addressing and rectifying a nation’s flaws rather than engaging in mere jingoism.
Abraham emphasized the need for Indian men to understand and adopt protective roles toward women, highlighting the critical nature of this issue. “Women, children, and animals are not safe in India. It is sad. Indian men need to understand how to treat their women. It is very important. Every woman deserves a man to be a protector,” Abraham stated.
He continued by contrasting genuine patriotism with superficial national pride, asserting that true love for one’s country requires a commitment to societal change. “Because I love Hindustan, I need to criticize India. There is a difference between patriotism and jingoism. Saying ‘Mera Bharat mahaan’ doesn’t make you an Indian lover. You become an Indian lover when you bring about change in society,” Abraham declared.
It should be noted that protests have erupted in various Indian cities following the gang rape and murder of a trainee doctor at a state-run hospital in Kolkata last week.
