Awami Muslim League chief Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed recently disclosed that Indian director Mahesh Bhatt approached him twice with the intention of making a film on Lal Haveli, a historic building associated with Rasheed, but was turned down both times.
Speaking to the media, Sheikh Rasheed, a former close aide of Imran Khan, stated, “Mahesh Bhatt came to me from India seeking permission to make a film on Lal Haveli two times. He wanted to make a film on the story of Dhan Raj, but I didn’t allow him to do so.”
Rasheed also clarified that all existing documentaries on Lal Haveli are inaccurate, asserting, “These [documentaries] are not related to the real Lal Haveli.” He corrected misconceptions about the property, explaining, “Those who say Lal Haveli is on 19 kanals, let me tell them that there are not 19 kanals, but 19 houses here, while we only have a three-quarter marla portion of Lal Haveli.”
He further revealed his future plans for the property, stating that he intends to establish a university on Lal Haveli after his death.
