Renowned British-Japanese visual artist Hana Tajima has been making waves on social media for her recent appearance at a Buckingham Palace luncheon wearing clothing with Palestinian and Sudanese themes.
During their recent visit to the UK, the Japanese Emperor and Empress were honored with a formal banquet. At the event, Hana Tajima wore a dress featuring a red fan that represented the colors of the Palestinian and Sudanese flags. The outfit itself was a striking white with black and green sleeves.

On Instagram, Tajima shared her feelings about the dress: “It was an honor to wear the colors of Palestine and Sudan. Creating this dress took a couple of weeks and a lot of hand sewing. With every stitch, I reflected on what I was representing and what it meant to me. The white and green fabrics are vintage kimono silk.”
Hana Tajima is a renowned designer known for her modest apparel collections, including collaborations with the Japanese casual wear retailer Uniqlo.
On June 26, King Charles and Queen Camilla hosted Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako of Japan, marking the start of their three-day state visit to the United Kingdom with a series of formalities.
