Sheikh Abdul Wahab Al-Shaibi has assumed the revered role of the guardian of the Holy Kaaba, one of Islam’s holiest sites.
Since the time of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), the key to the Kaaba has been entrusted to the Shaibi tribe, a tradition maintained by the Saudi government.
After the conquest of Mecca in 630 AD, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) entrusted the key of the sacred place’s door to the Al-Shaibi family.
Following the recent passing of Dr. Saleh bin Zain Al-Abidin Al-Shaibi, the previous guardian, the responsibility has now been bestowed upon Sheikh Abdul Wahab Al-Shaibi.
“I consider it a great honor. I ask everyone to pray that I can fulfill my duty to the House of Allah in the best manner,” Sheikh Abdul Wahab Al-Shaibi expressed to local media.
Sheikh Abdul Wahab Al-Shaibi holds the esteemed position as the 110th successor of Uthman bin Talha, a companion of Prophet Muhammad (May Allah be pleased with him), and is the eldest member of the Banu al-Shaibi.
