The Nassau County International Cricket Stadium, one of the three venues in the USA for the ongoing T20 World Cup, is set to be demolished.
In a video shared by ANI on social media, bulldozers are seen parked at the venue, ready to commence the demolition of the temporary stadium, which had a seating capacity of 34,000. The stadium, constructed in just 106 days at Eisenhower Park in Nassau County, New York, hosted eight games, including three Group A matches featuring India and a high-profile match against Pakistan.
The last game at the stadium was India’s match against co-hosts USA on Wednesday, June 12. Following the match, preparations to dismantle the stadium began, with the process expected to take six weeks.
The pop-up stadium in New York, which was constructed in just 106 days at the Eisenhower Park premises in Nassau County, is likely to take six weeks to be dismantled. The work got underway on Wednesday.
USA staged 16 matches in the group-stage along with fellow tournament hosts West Indies. Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas and the Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground in Florida are the two other tournament venues in the United States.
All matches of the Super 8 round in addition to semi-finals and final will be held in the Caribbean islands. Barbados will host the title clash on June 29.
