Following the acquisition of the world’s most expensive number plate, Dubai has once again made headlines with the unveiling of the world’s priciest SIM card.
A recent charity auction dubbed The Most Noble Numbers witnessed a gathering of the UAE’s affluent populace. In this society, distinctive number plates and SIM cards have evolved into coveted symbols of status among the privileged class.
One particular mobile number, 058-7777777, stole the spotlight at the auction. Bidders engaged in fierce competition for this exclusive SIM card, ultimately fetching an astonishing AED 3,200,000. The bidding war commenced at AED 100,000 and skyrocketed within moments.
Overall, the auction amassed over AED 38.095 million in proceeds, with exclusive car number plates generating AED 29 million in sales. Furthermore, special numbers from telecom giants Etisalat and du fetched AED 4.135 million and AED 4.935 million respectively.
In the preceding year, the Dubai number plate auction made waves with the sale of the plate ‘P7’ for a staggering AED 55 million. The auction featured a collection of 10 deluxe car number plates and 21 mobile numbers from Du and Etisalat. The proceeds were dedicated to supporting the Dh1-billion Mothers’ Endowment campaign, spearheaded by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
