Muslims around the world have to pay Zakat on their wealth every year, though there is no specific time to pay Zakat as one can pay it at any time during the year. However, most Muslims prefer to pay it in the holy month of Ramadan.
Pakistanis living and working abroad want to send the amount of their Zakat to Pakistan for those who are eligible to receive Zakat. The amount can be sent through the banking channel or online payment platforms to different charity and welfare organizations or individuals directly; however, there are some guidelines one should follow before sending Zakat to Pakistan.
Know the eligible recipients:
Before you send your Zakat to Pakistan, identify the individuals or organizations that are eligible to receive Zakat. This may include family members, friends, or certified charity organizations.
Certification of Organizations:
Confirmed that the organizations you are sending Zakat are registered and certified by the government of Pakistan and have an authentic certificate for receiving and distributing Zakat.
Compliance with Islamic Principles:
Before you send your Zakat to any organization in Pakistan must check whether the organization accepting Zakat adheres to Islamic principles in the collection and distribution of Zakat funds or not as the Zakat amount must be used only for specified purposes outlined in Islamic jurisprudence.
Choose a Reliable Channel:
Choose a reliable and secure channel to send Zakat funds. Common channels include bank transfers and online payment platforms can be used for this purpose.
Bank Transfers:
Use secure and legal banking channels to transfer Zakat funds. Online banking services can be utilized for this purpose. When making a bank transfer, provide all necessary information, including the recipient’s bank account details, name, and any additional information required by the bank.
Check currency exchange rates if the Zakat is being sent in a different currency. Maintain detailed records and documentation of the Zakat transfer, including receipts, transaction confirmations, and any communication with the receiving party.
