Residents of Karachi are set to experience a gas shortage today and tomorrow, as announced by the gas distribution company Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) on Sunday. According to the announcement, the port city will encounter low gas pressure over the next 24 hours due to a reduction of 50 mmcfd gas in the SSGC system.
In the statement, SSGC explained that the sudden shortage of 50 mmcfd of gas from the Nimat Bisal field has occurred, leading to a gas shortfall in the system. The SSGC spokesperson mentioned that due to the decreased gas supply from the Nimat Bisal field, citizens of Karachi may encounter issues such as gas shortages or pressure drops.
It’s worth noting that the residents of the port city had previously faced significant challenges due to a gas shortage throughout the city, exacerbated by the cold weather. Citizens reported two months ago that gas was unavailable in nearly 40 percent of the city’s areas, even during meal times, forcing them to purchase expensive bread from bakeries.
Consumers from areas including Maskan Chowrangi, Gulshan Block 6, Malir Cantt, Model Colony, Bahadurabad, Sharifabad, FC area, North Nazimabad, and various blocks of FB area have lodged complaints about the gas shortage.
