Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has initiated an investigation into the disappearance of air hostess Maryam Raza in Canada.
According to the details, Maryam was assigned to flight number PK-782, traveling from Islamabad to Toronto. However, she failed to report back after the return of that flight, raising concerns that she may still be in Canada.
Initial reports indicated that Maryam Raza’s uniform and a note saying ‘Thank you PIA’ were found in her room. Although her duty was on the flight coming from Toronto to Karachi, PK-784, she was not on duty.
The PIA spokesperson mentioned that such matters are challenging, and despite extensive profiling, it is difficult to prevent individuals from staying in Canada due to their lenient laws. The Canadian media has not yet contacted PIA regarding this issue.
The spokesperson added that an inquiry has been initiated, and if required, Maryam will be dismissed from her position. PIA is coordinating with the Canadian Border Services Agency to prevent similar cases. Despite various implemented measures, previous attempts have been unsuccessful.
According to PIA reports, this incident marks the second occurrence this year where a PIA flight attendant has gone missing from duty.
In the preceding year, 2023, at least seven flight attendants from PIA were reported to have disappeared after landing in Canada.
