English musician and Pink Floyd member, Roger Waters, took a stand on Tuesday, urging the release of former Prime Minister Imran Khan from incarceration.
In a note addressed to the rulers of Pakistan, Waters, known for his passion for fair play, criticized the ongoing situation in Pakistan, stating, “What you are doing in Pakistan is not cricket.”
Expressing his concern, Waters emphasized the immediate release of Imran Khan from imprisonment, asserting that he should be allowed to lead his political party, the PTI (Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf).
Waters’ plea was accompanied by a poignant video montage featuring Imran Khan and his supporters, set to the backdrop of the song ‘I Don’t Like Cricket (I Love It)’ by 10 cc playing in the background.
Imran Khan currently faces convictions and sentences in three separate cases. He received a 10-year sentence in the cipher case, while both he and his wife, Bushra Bibi, were handed 14 years each in the Toshakhana reference. Additionally, Imran faces seven years imprisonment, along with a Rs0.5 million fine, for “contracting marriage during the ‘Iddat’ (period of waiting)” of the former first lady.
