Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi has unveiled plans for a second phase of artificial rain to tackle the persistent smog issue in Lahore. Expressing gratitude for the collaboration with the United Arab Emirates (UAE), CM Naqvi specifically commended the Cloud Seeding Team, led by Ahmad Al Kamal, for their efforts during a recent meeting.
Recognizing the UAE’s dedication to combating smog, CM Naqvi applauded the Cloud Seeding Team for the successful execution of the initial artificial rainfall experiment in Lahore. This endeavor resulted in a significant improvement in air quality, with levels consistently staying below 200 for several consecutive days.
The meeting also saw the presence of Chief Pilot Michael Anstis and Pilot Colonel Aubeed, emphasizing the importance of the collaborative environmental conservation efforts between Punjab and the UAE.
Describing the pioneering effort as the first successful experiment of artificial rainfall in Lahore, CM Naqvi expressed optimism for the upcoming January experiment, contingent on favorable weather conditions. The historic collaboration between Punjab and the UAE’s Cloud Seeding Team is considered crucial, with experts viewing the UAE team as an integral part of Pakistan’s environmental initiatives. CM Naqvi conveyed his appreciation to the people of Pakistan for recognizing the vital role played by the UAE pilots in this environmental venture.
In a reciprocal gesture, the UAE delegation expressed deep affection for Pakistan, emphasizing the enduring bond between the two nations. The collaborative efforts are anticipated to make a significant contribution to alleviating the impact of smog in the region.
