KARACHI: The government has separated the Pakistan Airports Authority and the Civil Aviation Department by making two parts of Civil Aviation.
According to the details, the caretaker government has issued a declaration of 2 departments of civil aviation under which airports are part of the Pakistan Authority while other departments including licensing, flight standards, and air transport have been entrusted to civil aviation.
According to the government announcement, the Civil Aviation Authority and Pakistan Airports Authority Act 2023 has been implemented, while the headship of both departments will also be given to separate personalities, this action has been taken on the instructions of the International Civil Aviation Organization.
World Civil Aviation had directed the caretaker government to break up the regulatory and airport services and create two new departments. The caretaker government has implemented the Pakistan Airports Authority and Civil Aviation Acts from November 10. The notification was issued by the Ministry of Aviation.
The notification has ordered that the Airports Authority and CAA should immediately disclose the number of employees and other details including assets. Earlier, the government had approved the act of separation of CAA and Airport Authority from the Parliament.
