Scholars and religious leaders met with Army Chief General Asim Munir on Friday. During this meeting, a viral image of the Army Chief circulated on social media, leading to criticism.
Based on the viral image, claims were made that the Army Chief met with the scholars from behind a bulletproof glass, avoiding direct interaction.
Some social media users suggested that the Chief being behind bulletproof glass within the headquarters raises questions.

؟؟؟#حافظ_صاحب_چھاگئے pic.twitter.com/zEJO7Mmt1r— Taimoor Imran (@TAI_PTI) November 17, 2023
However, Allama Tahir Mahmood Ashrafi later denied the claims on social media, asserting that the Army Chief did not use bulletproof glass during the meeting.
In his video statement, Tahir Ashrafi explained the circumstances of the meeting, stating that General Hafiz Syed Asim Munir, the honorable Chief of Army Staff, met with scholars and religious leaders. Even during the Friday prayer break, he interacted with the scholars. After the meeting concluded, he personally greeted each individual present, exchanged words and listened to their problems.
He further expressed regret that false information and propaganda were being spread at this critical time. He condemned the manipulation of an image across social media, suggesting that during the meeting between General Hafiz and the scholars, bulletproof glass was used between them.
Tahir Ashrafi strongly stated, “I would say, ‘May Allah’s curse be upon the liars.’ Some shame and modesty should be there. Speaking in this way, spreading such propaganda, those outside who are our enemies understand it, but if people within our country engage in such actions, it is the responsibility of the intelligence agencies to arrest such individuals, take action against them. It is also our responsibility to inform the nation of the true situation. May Allah bless us all, and those with misguided intentions, may they be guided.”
A social media user also clarified that the glass seen in the image in front of the Army Chief is a tabletop.
