With more rain and snow forecast in some areas of the country, Pakistan is set to experience a cold wave starting today and lasting until Friday afternoon, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) said in latest weather advisory on Wednesday.
“A westerly system is likely to enter upper parts on November 8 (evening/night) and likely to spread upper/central parts on 10 (night),” a weather advisory issued by the Met Office stated.
These westerly winds are predicted to remain in this region until Friday afternoon, with the northern regions of the country projected to be the primary recipients of them. The local weather might fluctuate significantly due to these winds, which can affect many facets of daily life.
The PMD forecast intermittent rain with wind thunderstorm in moderate isolated falls in the upper areas including Chitral, Dir, Swat, Malakand, Shangla, Buner, Mansehra, Kohistan, Abbottabad, Swabi, Khyber, Mohmand, Bajaur, Peshawar, Mardan, Nowshera, Charsadda, Kurram, Kohat, Hangu, Orakzai, Bannu, Karak, Lakki Marwat, Tank, Waziristan and Dera Ismail Khan.
Moderate to isolated heavy falls are expected in Kashmir’s Neelum valley, Muzaffarabad, Poonch, Hattian, Bagh, Haveli, Sudhanoti, Kotli, Bhimber, Mirpur, and Diamir, Astore, Ghizer, Skardu, Hunza, Gilgit, Ghanche, Shigar areas of Gilgit Baltistan, during the same period.
