WhatsApp is rolling out new a feature that lets users use two accounts on one phone simultaneously.
Mark Zuckerberg announced the feature on his Facebook page and said the feature is coming soon to users.
He wrote, “Switch between two accounts on WhatsApp — Soon you’ll be able to have two WhatsApp accounts on one phone within the app.”
It comes in handy especially if you use two phones – one for work and the other for personal use. Now, you can use both work and personal WhatsApp accounts on one phone.
However, there are a few requirements from Meta’s side: you still need a separate phone number and SIM card which means a phone that accepts multi-SIM or eSIM.
Users can go to Settings > Add Account to add a second account. While setting up, you will need your second phone with SIM or a phone with physical or eSIM facility for multi-SIM. The company said that you will be able to manage separate notifications and privacy settings for each account.
WhatsApp warned against fake versions of the app to prevent fraud.
Earlier this week, WhatsApp rolled out passkey support for the Android version, so users can log into the app without SMS-based two-factor authentication.
