The newly released serial ‘Hadsa’ has landed itself at the center of social media users’ attention as they are outraged over its portrayal of a sensitive topic.
Loosely based on 2020’s horrific motorway rape incident, the drama features Hadiqa Kiani in the leading role.
The social media users have expressed their rage at the channel and the drama makers for making money out of the survivor’s real-life story.
I haven’t seen Hadsa. Could even be a well-made show (idk, I’m guessing, could also not be). But maybe, just maybe, showbiz folks should have the courtesy to not turn a highly disturbing, vile attack into a drama? Maybe steer clear of a deeply personal, triggering tragedy?

this was really the last thing I wanted to see today. this is so messed up. wtf is wrong this channel? iss mulk mein jahan victims ko hi blame kiya jata hai oper se they’re using such insensitive dialogues to do what exactly? cast/crew involved in hadsa lost all the respect. https://t.co/XLlasS2U16

So Geo News made a drama on the motorway rape incident without asking the survivor! Just because a channel wanted TRP. WTF Is This Now.
PEMRA should Ban This Drama, Fine Geo Administration And Actors/Management Team.#Hadsa #Pakistan pic.twitter.com/VahcNSE5DM— Dawood Awan ???????? (@dawoodumarawan) August 28, 2023
30 mins after reading the thread on motorway rape case bc what do you mean by calling the drama hadsa which accident. Rape is never an accident

If a drama starts with graphic portrayal of sexual assault for “social awareness” then it is only aiming to benefit from humiliation of a woman.
They picked this case for it’s shock value and this is exploitation of the worst kind!#Hadsa https://t.co/5VqG3zStkp— Cynically Insane (@CynicallyInsan) August 28, 2023
The victim/survivor picked up in a split second that it’s about her. That’s enough an evidence that #HADSA IS about the horrific incident that involved her children too. Astonishing that despite going through the script you didn’t once cross checked it with a reliable source. https://t.co/psJ15006gT

tbh I really don’t know what to say after reading this. this just sent shivers down my spine. this is so disgusting insensitive and inhumane. geo is hitting new low everyday for using such sensitive topics for trps. hadsa shouldn’t have been made at the first place. so traumatic. https://t.co/4RAqbL6NnD

Hadsa is a classic example of how consequentialism is dropped when it suits its followers. Using a rape victim’s tragedy to make money via TV drama isn’t going to create measurable harm in society, but it is horrific and morally wrong. Thats why it should be immediately banned.

Rape is not a Hadsa or accident. It’s an act of deliberate violence. It’s a crime.

Shame on @HarPalGeoTv, the drama “Hadsa” should be banned as soon as possible. I was also shocked when they shooted this drama, I was thinking that how can a sensitive topic can be dramatized with no trigger warnings. But they are freaking animals. @reportpemra Ban this drama. https://t.co/ZdM5Dz1Ovs
