Actress Aina Asif, who is starring in the drama serial ‘Mayi Ri’,
The actress who garnered fame from ‘Hum Tum’, is currently ruling hearts with her performance in ‘Mayi Ri’ which features a controversial social issue.
In the drama, Aina plays the character of school-going girl Annie who got married to Fakhir, who is also a school-going boy, and her cousin as well. This sparked controversy and social media users blamed the makers of ‘Mayi Ri’ for glorifying child marriage.
Now, the actress herself talked about child marriage’s controversial portrayal in the drama and answered the question related to glorifying child marriage, Aina Asif said, “The team didn’t mean to glorify child marriages.” According to the actress, the basic intention towards it was to spread awareness among the masses.
She also clarified, “You may see the young couples around you as it is not only about a child marriage, in the future, we will show the struggles and issues of this young couple. As per Asif, the drama will throw light on the pros and cons of child marriage.

Talking about the fans edits of Annie and Fakhir’s bonding, Aina said that the bonding between Fakhir and Annie is not because of love, it is there because they are cousins. She further said if the audience romanticized it, then it was okay.
Aina Asif further added, “They are cousins and that is the reason behind their friendly attitude, they are not being romantic and the intention of the drama was to raise awareness.”
