KARACHI: Pakistani rupee (PKR) touched a record low on Thursday after the United States Dollar (USD) crossed Rs300 in the interbank rate.
The US dollar reached the mark as trading resumed. The price of the greenback increased by 36 paise in early trading and crossed the historic mark.
The dollar is trading at historical levels in the open market. Currency markets quoted the currency at trading at Rs312.50. This is the third consecutive day the US dollar has reached historic levels.

On Tuesday, the rupee weakened to RS299 against the dollar. On Wednesday, it extended losses and depreciated 0.2% against the dollar.
