India defeated Pakistan 2-1 in the Junior Asia Cup 2023 championship match.
Both India and Pakistan were undefeated in the continental competition going into the thrilling championship match.
With a spectacular field goal in the 12th minute, Singh Angad Bir gave India the lead in the opening round of play.
Just four minutes into the second quarter, Hundal Araijeet Singh extended India’s lead while Pakistan missed a few chances to score an equaliser.
The green shirts’ fortunes began to shift in the third quarter when Ali Basharat’s well-placed field goal in the 37th minute gave them their first goal of the game.
Due to Basharat’s goal, India had to play more defensively and cordoned off their post to prevent Pakistan from scoring the equaliser.
Pakistan made repeated attempts to get past India’s defences by dribbling past their defenders, earning penalty corners, but they were unsuccessful, and India easily won the game.
