Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) has alleged that 47 people have been martyred so far during protests against party chairman Imran Khan’s arrest.
Lashing out at Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s address, the party said that hundreds were injured and yet “the regime is shamefully labeling them all as terrorist”.
Earlier, the prime minister said “terrorists and elements who are enemies of the state” should immediately desist from their “anti-state activities”, warning that the “miscreants” would otherwise be dealt with an iron hand.
“They will be given an exemplary punishment.”
The premier said the “ protection of the state and ideology of Pakistan is more precious to us than our lives and we will not allow anyone to conspire against it“.
He added, “Nor will we let their nefarious designs be accomplished.”
Meanwhile, Internet blackouts and restrictions on access to social media websites continue in Pakistan for the second day, according to NetBlocks, an international monitor that tracks internet restrictions.
Moreover, on the request of the chief commissioner, the Ministry of Interior has requisitioned army troops/assets in Islamabad to “maintain the law and order situation”.
