KARACHI: The national team has a golden opportunity to grab the number one position in the ICC ODI rankings for the first time.
The Pakistan team defeated New Zealand by 26 runs in the third ODI played on Wednesday to take a decisive 0-3 lead in the five-match series.
In the third one-day match of the series, the Pakistan team scored 287 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in the allotted overs against New Zealand. Imam-ul-Haq played an innings of 90 and Babar Azam scored 54 runs.
On the other hand, chasing 288 runs, the visiting team collapsed for 261 runs in 49.1 overs. After the victory against New Zealand in the third ODI match, the Pakistan team has a golden opportunity to get the number one position in the ICC ODI rankings for the first time.

If one looks at the ICC ODI rankings, Australia is at the top with 113 rating points, while India is second and England is in third place, Pakistan is fourth with 110 rating points.
If the Pakistani team clean sweep the ODI series against New Zealand i.e. win the remaining two matches of the series and win the series 5-0, then they will occupy the first position in the ICC ODI rankings for the first time.
It should be noted that the remaining two matches of the series between Pakistan and New Zealand are to be played on Friday and Sunday.
