PML-N leader Javed Latif on Monday said that talks should never be undertaken with “terrorists” or people who “want to destroy national institutions” and that he disapproved of the conversations that are now taking place between the coalition government and the PTI.
Sharing his views on the ongoing negotiations between the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) and the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), the senior politician maintained that negotiations aren’t conducted with terrorists’ wings.
“Talks are never held with those who throw petrol bombs nor with those who are instruments of world powers. Negotiations are not held with those who talk about Mir Jaffer, Mir Sadiq,” Latif said.
Talks between the government and the PTI commenced last week on the advice of the Supreme Court. After two rounds of talks, the parties are now expected to hold the final round of negotiations tomorrow (Tuesday).
The PTI Chairman Imran Khan has requested the dissolution of the National Assembly by May 14 in order to clear the way for the successful conclusion of negotiations, but the prospects that the discussion would produce fruitful outcomes are now beginning to look “very slim.”
The PML-N has also warned that the PTI will be the “ultimate loser” if the negotiations failed — the general elections may be “delayed for a year under a constitutional provision”.
The PML-N leader further stated that his party would not allow the forthcoming elections to take place without the participation of PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif.
