Masjid-e- Nabawi has an advanced air conditioning system. The system has a central station covering an area of 70,000 square meters and includes the world’s largest water-cooling condenser.
This main station is seven kilometers from the mosque. This system is working very efficiently to accommodate the cooling. This system renews the air inside the mosque, besides balancing and maintaining the temperature in the mosque. In the Prophet’s Mosque, special attention is paid to air renewal and temperature especially during the opening and closing of the domes.
This central station has 6 coolers. Each cooler has a capacity of 3400 tons. The degree of cooling of water reaches five degrees Celsius. The latest methods and technologies are used to distribute the water received from the station in an accurate, consistent and automated manner.
There are 151 air treatment, distribution and cooling units. The mosque is cooled by air through connected pipes. The cold air is released from the nets attached to the pillars of the Prophet’s Mosque. Air from the mosque is conveyed through pipes to the central station.
A complete cooling system is also established in the courtyards of Masjid-e- Nabawi. Water spray fans have been installed in these courtyards. These “mist fans” reduce the heat for worshippers. 436 mist fans have been installed in Masjid-e- Nabawi. A network of these water spray fans is connected to the disinfection system. It ensures the quality of water. This water is free from bacteria and keeps visitors safe.
