ISLAMABAD: District and Sessions Court Islamabad dismissed a plea for post-arrest transit bail of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Ali Amin Gandapur late last night and handed him over to Bhakkar police on a one-day transitory remand. The police had requested a three-day transitory remand, but the Duty Magistrate, Naved Khan, granted only one day.
Prominent lawyer Intazar Hussain Panjutha criticized the move, saying that handing over Gandapur to Bhakkar police on Safari Corridor remand against the order of the Islamabad High Court is not only contempt of court but also a clear violation of his basic human rights.

Gandapur was arrested on April 6 outside the building of the Peshawar High Court’s Dera Ismail Khan bench. He had been charged with two criminal cases registered against him by DI Khan police and sent to central jail on a six-day judicial remand. Bhakkar police had registered a case against him under sections of the Pakistan Penal Code and the Punjab Arms (Ordinance) of 2015.
The PTI leader was taken to Islamabad by the Islamabad and Punjab police from Bhakkar on Saturday, where he was charged with terrorism and treason by Golra police.
The first information report (FIR) mentioned an audio leak in which Gandapur had threatened that if Imran Khan was arrested, the capital city would be occupied and taken over, and he had also threatened the Islamabad Police with dire consequences. The audio was aired on a private news channel, as stated in the FIR.
