The meeting also demanded to take all the stakeholders on board before introducing any changes to the media laws.

The meeting also showed concern over the registration of cases of sedition against some journalists and vindictive policies being pursued against them.

Participants at the meeting showed concern over the issuance of notices by Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) to some TV channels, and decided to take the same to courts. It was also decided that a delegation of the Association would meet with the PEMRA officials.

Apart from that, the meeting decided to organise courses for the training of producers and reporters so that they could abide by the code of conduct.

It was also decided that organise an international seminar in Islamabad in connection with ‘Freedom of Press’ day.

The participants praised the passage of Journalist Protection Bill by Sindh Assembly, and urged the other three provinces to do the same.

AEMEND also demanded increasing the salaries of journalists in the wake of unprecedented inflation in the country.
