As Pakistani rupee crashed under PML-N led coalition government, leaving the country economy on the verge of default, more and more Pakistanis have been trying to move abroad to secure a better future. Almost a million Pakistanis have left the country in 2022, according to data released recently by the Bureau of Emigration and Overseas Employment (BEOE).
The growing urban middle class in Pakistan appears to have accepted the American dollar’s clear influence on the country’s economy and on their everyday lives since the bulk of this group is now looking for methods to make money in the dollar or other foreign currencies.
For many people, maintaining their standard of living in this era of inflation depends on earning money in dollars. And moving to the US, UK, Canada, or Australia has become a top priority in order to make money in dollars or other foreign currencies.
According to data released recently by the Bureau of Emigration and Overseas Employment (BEOE), some 832,339 Pakistanis left the country in 2022.
The number of immigrants in 2022 is significantly higher than the 288,280 having left in 2021. In 2015, however, 946,571 Pakistani’s left for the overseas, the highest number so far recorded in the history of the country.

Since then, the number of immigrants dropped to 225,213 in 2020, before it jumped once again to 832,339 in 2022.
According to estimates, there are currently 220 million people living in Pakistan. For many, the annual transfer of about one million people is cause for concern, particularly at a time when the lives of aspirant young people were made extremely difficult by hyper-inflation caused by the devaluation of the rupee and other administrative problems.
