RAWALPINDI: The head of Awami Muslim League (AML) and former federal interior minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmad on Tuesday said the finance minister had created a new crisis in the country as he mentioned $6 billion parked in commercial foreign accounts in Pakistani banks.

Taking to Twitter on Tuesday, he said “people visit banks to receive dollars but banks seem reluctant to make payments.” He said Pakistan had received assurances of aid in three phases lasting from one to seven years, adding that the foreign aid too would be disbursed by foreign diplomats and NGOs. He said our leaders were now being dubbed as professional beggars across the globe.

He further alleged that not a single important leader showed up during the Geneva moot and only a few contacted but on the other hand, an army of Pakistani ministers were present there.

Criticizing Shehbaz-led government for seeking international aid and loans, he said the time will tell soon as to what extent the UAE and the IMF will cooperate with Pakistan.

“The country had already been facing the worst closure of industries and unemployment under the nose of 13-party government, the former minister said and added that PTI chairman Imran Khan would never be the part of existing assemblies,” he added.
