ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday issued notices to President, Secretary Interior and Director PIMS on a petition, filed by mother of slain journalist Arshad Sharif, seeking to get the post-mortem report of her deceased son.
Arshad Sharif’s mother Riffat Ara Alvi, it may be recalled here, had approached the Islamabad High Courton Friday to get the post-mortem report of her deceased son.

In her petition, the mother of the slain journo took the plea that focal person of their family had sought a post-mortem report from the local administration on November 3, however, the administration told them that they did not have the report and that it was with the police. She furthered stated in her petition that when the family’s focal person went to the police, they also turned them away and told the deceased’s family to contact the administration.
According to the petition, the family has repeatedly contacted the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) management but they have neither provided the report nor denied it. “The PIMS and local administration have kept Arshad Sharif’s family in the dark about the post-mortem report and humiliated them during this difficult time,” said the application.

During the course of hearing today, Barrister Shoaib Razzaq told the court that the post mortem had taken place on October 26, yet the post mortem report was not being handed over to the family.
After initial hearing by Justice Amir Farooq here on Monday, the IHC issued notices to the PIMS and Islamabad Administration, summoning reply from them till November 15.
