PESHAWAR: A Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) Commander, identified as Liaqat and involved in several attacks in Peshawar and surroundings, was killed during a search operation in Jamrud, Khyber Tribal area Monday morning.
Locals from the area of Ghariza and Malikabad reported several explosions from the village. Students said they were not allowed to come out of their homes to appear in exams this morning.
Locals alleged that Jamrud Policemen were misbehaving with them as the search operation went on in the vicinity.
Eye witnesses and local media sources said there were helicopters that shelled suspected militant hideouts earlier. Local officials from the area said a security official had also succumbed to injuries and an officer was injured. Officials said this TTP group was involved in attacks on Regi police station amongst others.
Meanwhile, officials confirmed that three militants affiliated with Islamic State Khorasan (ISKP) have also been injured and arrested in the operation.
