Box office collection
The social comedy has pre-sold tickets worth only Rs 50 lakh. According to Indian media outlet, the movie has sold only 19,000 tickets at the three leading cinema chains in the country ahead of its debut today, which translates to around Rs 50 lakh in revenue.
The number might increase to around Rs 70 lakh to Rs 80 lakh, but that still isn’t good enough by Ayushmann’s standards.
Social media and response
As per social media, Doctor G is a fun film that addresses issues that matter with all the seriousness that they deserve.
The blend of humour and socially inflected drama has an easy flow to it thanks principally to the quality of the writing and the performances by a cast clued in fully to the unusual tonalities of the film.
