KARACHI: At least one person lost his life while four others were injured, one of them said to be in critical condition, as a result of an alleged cylinder blast that took place in a shop in the posh area of Defense Housing Authority on Monday.
Rescue workers rushed to the scene and shifted the casualties to the hospital.
Visuals received by the MM News purported to show a number of bikes and vehicles, parked outside the affected shop, as well as the building, were badly damaged as a result of the explosion.
Terrified by the bang, people working in different outlets and offices in the area rushed outside their premises to take stock of the situation.
The Senior Superintendent of Police Karachi South, talking to media, confirmed the casualties and said that an investigation had already kicked off to ascertain the cause of the blast.
