Javed Iqbal: The Untold Story Of A Serial Killer, which was banned from screening just two days before its scheduled release in theaters across the country is set to premiere at the DC South Asian Film Festival.
Directed by Abu Aliha, the film had its world premiere at the UK Film Festival in May. Yasir Hussain and Ayesha Umar played the lead roles in the film. The 11th edition of the film festival will begin on November 1 in Washington DC and continue till November 8.
The director of the film, Abu Aliha, announced on the social networking website Twitter that Javed Iqbal has crossed another milestone and has been selected for the DC South Asian Film Festival in Washington. It should be noted that the film ‘Javed Iqbal’ has not yet received permission from the Censor Board for release in Pakistan.

The story of the film revolves around the crimes and legal trial of the notorious serial killer ‘Javed Iqbal Mughal’ of Lahore, the capital of Punjab. Javed Iqbal Mughal was guilty of murdering 100 children and raping them.
In 1999, Javed Iqbal wrote a letter to the police in which he confessed to the murder of 100 children between the ages of 6 and 16. He also admitted that he killed most of the children. He was strangled and his body was cut into several pieces. Javed Iqbal Mughal committed suicide in Lahore jail in October 2001.
