According to the results of the by-election on NA 245 last night, Tehreek-e-Insaf’s Mahmood Baqi Moulvi won 29,475 votes and defeated MQM (Pakistan) candidate Moeed Anwar, who came second with 13,193 votes.

Earlier, Mahmood Moulvi served as Special Assistant to the Prime Minister in the Maritime Affairs Department during the Imran Khan government and also worked as a Federal Advisor in the Ministry of Maritime Affairs of former Federal Minister Ali Zaidi. In addition to his news, columns have also been published in various newspapers.

During the 2018 general elections, Aamir Liaquat Hussain was elected a member of the National Assembly from NA-245 on the ticket of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, who had previously served as the Federal Minister for Religious Affairs and a TV host.

Yesterday, the polling of NA 245 started from 8 am which continued till 5 pm, however, the turnout of the voters was not sufficient due to the traditional attitude of the residents of Karachi towards polling. However, PTI On the appeal of the leaders, thousands of people came out of their homes.

Fraud complaints

After the death of Aamir Liaquat Hussain, a by-election was held on August 21 when the seat of the National Assembly became vacant, during which complaints of rigging came from various polling stations.

Meanwhile, apart from Mahmood Moulvi, other PTI leaders, including Raja Azhar, Khurram Sher Zaman, and President PTI Sindh Ali Zaidi, periodically inspected various polling stations and during this time videos were also posted on social media.

Raja Azhar said in a video statement that those who voted for PTI are not being allowed to come forward, similar complaints were received from some other polling stations, but despite all the rigging, Tehreek-e-Insaf won.

Appointment and election as Special Assistant

More than a year ago today, on May 25, 2021, in one of his Twitter messages, Mahmood Moulvi said that he has been appointed as Special Assistant to the Prime Minister for Naval Affairs, for which Imran Khan and (former) Federal Minister Ali Zaidi thanked him.

For Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Mahmood Moulvi has served as Senior Vice President (West Sindh), General Secretary PTI Karachi, and other positions and has also contested elections in NA 255 in 2018 while he has contested for MQM’s Khalid. Maqbool Siddiqui got 50 thousand votes.

Congratulatory messages

In his message on the social networking site Twitter last night, former Prime Minister Imran Khan said that I congratulate Mahmood Moulvi and the team of PTI Karachi on the success of the by-election in NA-245 Karachi.

Chairman PTI Imran Khan tweeted, “Congratulations to Mahmood Moulvi & Team PTI Karachi for victory in the NA 245 election today. InshaAllah we are moving forward in our movement for Haqeeqi Azadi.”

Chairman PSP and other personalities also congratulated Mahmood Moulvi for winning the election. Former Mayor Karachi Syed Mustafa Kamal said he heartily congratulate PTI for winning the NA-245 by-election.

Future challenges

The victory of Tehreek-e-Insaf in the NA-245 by-election is a source of concern for the rulers on the one hand and on the other hand, it is no less than an invitation for PTI to accept challenges because the party has to maintain this streak of success.

During the upcoming elections, if Tehreek-e-Insaf wants to defeat other political parties including Muttahida Qaumi Movement (Pakistan), People’s Party, and Muslim League (N), then the elected members will have to show their performance after winning the election.
