ISLAMABAD: Finance Minister Miftah Ismail has said that raising petrol prices has saved Pakistan from bankruptcy.
According to details, the finance minister while addressing a press conference said that we have saved Pakistan from bankruptcy by increasing the price of petrol. “We have not imposed tax burden on poor people in the budget, no additional tax of any kind. Even, a company of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s son has also been taxed,” he said.
Miftah Ismail said that progress has been made in the agreement with IMF, taxes on sugar mills are being increased, and taxes on rich people will be increased further, he maintained.
He said that the tax on his company will also increase by about Rs 25 crores. “We will collect tax from the rich. Imran Khan has made 4 big losses,” he stated.

Miftah Ismail said that the country’s deficit has increased tremendously in the last four years, Imran Khan borrowed 80 percent more, he said by adding, “Khan left a deficit of 120 billion.” According to Ismail, the decision to increase the price of petrol was not easy for Shehbaz Sharif.
He said in a press conference about the prices of flour that all over Pakistan we are selling flour at Rs 40 per kg, sugar at utility stores at Rs 70 per kg, ghee, rice, pulses, flour, and sugar will be cheaper.
Miftah Ismail further said that he is happy that now PTI members are saying that it is the responsibility of the government to look at inflation. “Earlier they used to say that it is not the responsibility of government to look at inflation,” he said.
