ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has started making arrangements for the phased return of Pakistani students to China who had returned after the COVID-19 situation.
Pakistan Embassy issued a statement the two sides have agreed for phased return subject to the Covid-19 situation in China. The embassy said it has long been engaged with the relevant Chinese authorities regarding return of Pakistani students to their universities in China.
It said the unprecedented and extraordinary situation caused by the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic has affected students’ educational activities across the world including Pakistani students enrolled at Chinese universities, many of whom are currently in Pakistan.
The Embassy had long been engaged with the relevant Chinese authorities regarding return of Pakistani students to their universities in China.
It noted Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif discussed the issue in his recent telephonic conversation with Chinese Premier Li Keqiang, who assured that China accorded high priority to this matter. Two sides are now finalizing arrangements for return of first batch of students at an early date.
The Embassy would continue pursuing this matter with the Chinese authorities for the return of the remaining students as well, it added.
