The PTI has announced to hold peaceful protest across all cities and districts across the country against the ouster of the prime minister. A defiant Imran Khan said on Friday that he will not accept any “imported government” in Pakistan and will take to the streets in protest.
The country witnessed another historic development after Imran Khan became the first prime minister to be voted out through a no-confidence motion. 174 MNAs voted in favour of the motion during a late-night political drama in parlaiment.
PML-N’s Ayaz Sadiq, a member of the panel of the chair, chaired the National Assembly session after Asad Qaiser announced his resignation from the office of the speaker to avoid contempt charges.
“174 members have recorded their votes in favour of the resolution, consequently the resolution for the vote on no-confidence against Mr Imran Khan, the prime minister of Pakistan, has been passed by a majority,” Ayaz Sadiq announced after the process of voting was completed.
Once the voting was concluded and the result was announced, Opposition leaders delivered their victory speeches. The session has been adjourned till 11am on Monday, April 11.
