ISLAMABAD: The price of electricity is likely to go up by Rs. 5 per unit as the Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) has requested NEPRA for the same.
According to details, CPPA has requested NEPRA to increase the price of electricity by Rs4.99 per unit in terms of monthly fuel adjustment for February as only 18.22% of electricity was generated from the hydropower system during the month.
The percentage of electricity generated from furnace oil was 6.51% while that of coal was 31.7%. According to CPPA, 15.16 percent of electricity was generated from LNG, 11.36 percent from domestic gas, and 12.53 percent from nuclear fuel.
The National Electronic Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has decided to hold a hearing on March 31 at the request of the CPPA.
It should be noted that Prime Minister Imran Khan had announced not to increase the price of electricity. The ECC on Friday approved a relief package approved by the Prime Minister, under which the prices of electricity would be reduced by Rs. 5 per unit.
