WARSAW: The evacuation of Pakistani citizens stranded in Ukraine became complicated as Kyiv is not allowing the people, gathered on the border, to enter Poland.
Pakistani ambassador in Poland has Malik Farooq said on Sunday that he was present at the Poland-Ukraine Crossing Point, but Ukraine authorities are not allowing masses to pass the border.
Talking to the media, the envoy said that there was no problem on the Polish side but Kyiv authorities were not allowing anyone to pass the crossing.” People in huge number, including Pakistani, have gathered at the crossing point, but the Ukraine authorities are letting them cross the border instead they trying to evacuate its citizens first”, he added.
Farooq said that they were in contact with the stranded Pakistani students in Ukraine and they have arranged transport and other facilities to ensure the safe stay of the students in Poland.
On Saturday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs canceled the flight schedule of evacuation flights for stranded Pakistanis in war-torn Ukraine.
Earlier, the Pakistani embassy in Kyiv said that there were 1500 Pakistani including students in Ukraine and steps were being taken to ensure their safe evacuation.
