ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan is likely to visit Karachi on the invitation of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P), local media reported on Saturday.
While the opposition prepares for a no-confidence motion against the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), the Prime Minister has begun tightening relations with allied parties.
According to sources, PM Imran will visit MQM headquarters in Bahadurabad during his visit to Karachi in early March. The Prime Minister will be accompanied by Sindh Governor Imran Ismail, senior ministers and central leadership of PTI.
The premier will visit Bahadurabad on his return from Russia. The issue of going to Bahadurabad was decided in a meeting of the MQM leadership with the Prime Minister this week. Both Forough Naseem and Aminul Haq invited the Prime Minister to visit.
The meeting will also discuss development projects in Karachi and the concerns of the MQM, while the MQM Coordinating Committee will prepare a list of demands before the Prime Minister’s visit to Karachi.
Meanwhile, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and other opposition parties are planning to move a no-confidence motion to oust Imran Khan. The opposition has claimed that people have been crushed by inflation, Pakistan’s economic condition has declined and the country has reached a weak stage under the PTI regime.
The opposition approached PML-Q leaders Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and Chaudhry Pervez Ilahi, the allied party of the government as well to seek their help for a possible no-trust move.
