Earlier, Islamabad United defeated Quetta Gladiators by 43 runs in the first round of the seventh edition of the PSL played at the last National Stadium.
Quetta Gladiators won the toss and invited Islamabad United to play first. Islamabad United scored 229 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs.
Islamabad United played aggressive cricket from the start of the innings and did not allow any of the Quetta bowlers to move. Within just 4 overs, openers Paul Stirling and Alex Hales completed the team’s half-century.
After losing 3 wickets, Islamabad again defeated Quetta Gladiators with a 97-run partnership between Colin Monroe and Azam Khan. Azam Khan of Islamabad was dismissed for 65 off 35 balls in the last over.
In pursuit of PSL’s highest-scoring target of 230 runs, Quetta could not play in front of the bowlers of Islamabad United and the entire team returned to the pavilion after scoring 186 runs in the 20th over.
Quetta Gladiators’ opener Ahsan Ali scored 50 and all-rounder Muhammad Nawaz scored 47, besides James Faulkner scored 30, and captain Sarfraz scored 11.
