LAHORE: In an unfortunate incident, three children were burnt to death and five other persons received burn injuries as a fire erupted at a house in Lahore in the wee hours of Friday.
The tragic incident was reported in Gulistan Colony of Chungi Amar Sadhu where eight people of the same family were affected by the blaze. Three children, including two minor girls, lost their lives while their parents and other children received serious burn injuries.
The victims were identified as Ali Abbas, aged 2, Zehra, aged 4, and Laraib, aged six. The injured were identified as Maratib Ali, 40, Farzana Maratib, 35 and their children, Ali Hasan, Ali Raza, and Ali Hamza.
Rescue teams reached the spot and shifted the dead and injured to the Jinnah Hospital. Rescue sources also informed that the fire erupted due to short-circuit although further investigation is underway.
Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar expressed grief on the tragic incident. The chief minister summoned a report from Commissioner Lahore and ordered the provision of the best possible medical facilities to the injured.
