KARACHI: Police made headway in the case of the killing of Shahrukh, a young man who was killed by a street criminal for resisting the robbery at Kashmir Road.
Police conducted a raid in the Block 7, Gulshan-e-Iqbal area of Karachi to arrest the suspect involved in the incident. Special Investigation Unit (SIU) received a tip-off and conducted a raid at a house to arrest a suspect who allegedly killed the youngster in front of his mother during a robbery bid just days after his marriage.
The suspect was identified as Farzand, who was reportedly a police cop. After the police raid, he reportedly committed suicide by shooting himself in the head to avoid being arrested.
Police said the cop was stationed at Investigation West Zone and had been arrested a couple of times. “The accused shot himself in the head and died on the spot,” according to the police.
Earlier, police said four people, including a policeman, had been arrested for killing Shahrukh. The accused were not named but the name of the policeman was published and his past crimes were also cited.
Other detainees include his informer and two other suspects. It was reported that the arrests were made in Surjani Town, Gulshan-e-Maymar and other areas.
On January 12, the young man had been killed in front of his mother for resisting robbery in Karachi’s Kashmir Road area while the security camera captured the horrible moment of the street crime.
